{"id":857,"date":"2023-09-15T09:44:31","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T14:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/?p=857"},"modified":"2023-09-18T09:22:42","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T14:22:42","slug":"parker-takes-five-set-match-over-alcester-hudson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/2023\/09\/15\/parker-takes-five-set-match-over-alcester-hudson\/","title":{"rendered":"Parker Takes Five-Set Match over Alcester-Hudson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-245\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team traveled to Parker on Thursday, September 14th.\u00a0 The two teams battled through five sets with the Pheasants taking the win.\u00a0 Parker won by scores of 16-25, 25-14, 12-25, 26-24, and 15-11.<\/p>\n<p>The first set started back and forth to a 6-6 tie.\u00a0 The Cubs went on a 5-1 run to take an 11-7 lead.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson then continued with a 9-2 run for a 20-9 lead.\u00a0 The Pheasants tried to rally, but the Cubs won the first set 25-16.\u00a0 Parker grabbed the momentum in the second set.\u00a0 They took an early 6-3 lead and then went on a 7-1 run for a 13-4 lead.\u00a0 The Pheasants went ahead 20-11 before winning the second set 25-14.<\/p>\n<p>The momentum shifted back to the Cubs in the third set.\u00a0 They got out to a 7-2 lead and slowly extended that lead throughout the rest of the set.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson led 14-6 and then 19-7 before winning 25-12.\u00a0 Parker started on a 6-1 run in the fourth set.\u00a0 The Cubs cut the lead to 12-9 only to see Parker go on a 6-0 run for an 18-12 advantage.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson eventually tied the score 20-20.\u00a0 The score was tied again 24-24, and then Parker scored the final two points for a 26-24 win to force a fifth set.<\/p>\n<p>Parker used that excitement to get an early 5-2 lead in the fifth set.\u00a0 The Cubs got within two points, 7-5, but that was as close as they would get.\u00a0 The Pheasants went on a 4-1 run for an 11-6 lead.\u00a0 Parker kept the lead the rest of the set and won 15-11.<\/p>\n<p>Three players had over 20 digs in the match.\u00a0 Hannah Ahart had 29 digs.\u00a0 Jenna Manning finished with 28 digs, and Alexis Gray had 24 digs.\u00a0 Ahart also finished with 34 set assists, three kills, and two ace serves.\u00a0 Gray had a team-high 10 kills.\u00a0 Elly Doering finished with nine kills and five blocks.\u00a0 Emma Moller had eight kills and 10 digs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team traveled to Parker on Thursday, September 14th.\u00a0 The two teams battled through five sets with the Pheasants taking the win.\u00a0 Parker won by scores of 16-25, 25-14, 12-25, 26-24, and 15-11.
