{"id":847,"date":"2023-09-09T22:49:14","date_gmt":"2023-09-10T03:49:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/?p=847"},"modified":"2023-09-09T22:49:17","modified_gmt":"2023-09-10T03:49:17","slug":"cubs-volleyball-wins-five-set-match-over-avon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/2023\/09\/09\/cubs-volleyball-wins-five-set-match-over-avon\/","title":{"rendered":"Cubs Volleyball Wins Five-Set Match over Avon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-245\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team survived a five-set home match against the Avon Pirates on Thursday, September 7th.\u00a0 The Cubs won by scores 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, 20-25, and 16-14.<\/p>\n<p>Alcester-Hudson went on a 10-0 to start the first set.\u00a0 They led 17-5 before the Pirates made a little run.\u00a0 Avon cut the lead to 23-15, but the Cubs took the set 25-17.\u00a0 The second set started with a 3-3 tie.\u00a0 Avon went ahead 10-6.\u00a0 The Cubs battled back within a point, 15-14, but the Pirates went on a 4-0 run for a 19-14 lead.\u00a0 They kept that lead and won 25-17.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs went on a big run to start the third set, 8-1.\u00a0 They continued to lead throughout the rest of the match.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson had 17-12 and then extended that lead to 23-16 before winning 25-17.\u00a0 After a 4-4 tie to start the fourth set, the Cubs took a 12-6 lead.\u00a0 The Pirates tied the score 15-15 and then went ahead 20-17.\u00a0 That momentum carried them to a 25-20 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Avon scored the first three points of the fifth and final set.\u00a0 They extended the lead to 7-3, but the Cubs eventually tied the score 10-10.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson then broke the tie with three straight points for a 13-10 lead.\u00a0 Avon responded with three straight of their own to tie the set 13-13.\u00a0 The two teams traded points and were tied 14-14.\u00a0 The Cubs got the final two points to win 16-14 and win the match.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team survived a five-set home match against the Avon Pirates on Thursday, September 7th.\u00a0 The Cubs won by scores 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, 20-25, and 16-14.
