{"id":697,"date":"2023-04-10T22:05:45","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T03:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/?p=697"},"modified":"2023-04-10T22:05:47","modified_gmt":"2023-04-11T03:05:47","slug":"alcester-hudson-softball-gets-walk-off-win-to-start-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/2023\/04\/10\/alcester-hudson-softball-gets-walk-off-win-to-start-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Alcester-Hudson Softball Gets Walk-off Win to Start Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-245\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Alcester-Hudson Cubs started their first ever high school softball season in exciting fashion earning a come-from-behind, walk-off win over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Monday, April 10th.\u00a0 The Cubs scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to get the 7-6 victory.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies got a run in the top of the first inning for an early 1-0 lead.\u00a0 The Cubs scored three times in the bottom of the second.\u00a0 Delta Pies lead off the inning with a solo home run.\u00a0 Ella Serck earned a bases-loaded walk, and Paxtyn Moller was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to make the score 3-1.\u00a0 \u00a0Elk Point-Jefferson scored twice in the top of the third inning, and after three innings of play, the game was tied 3-3.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies then scored three times in the top of the fourth to regain the lead 6-3.\u00a0 Serck had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-4.\u00a0 Jenna Manning had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, and the score remained 6-5 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.\u00a0 Elly Doering led off the seventh with a single.\u00a0 Manning followed with a double, and then Serck had an infield single to load the bases with nobody out.\u00a0 P. Moller then walked to drive in a run to tie the game 6-6.\u00a0 After a strikeout, Pies hit a single to left field to drive home Manning for the game-winning run.<\/p>\n<p>Pies finished with three hits (single, double, and home run) with two RBIs.\u00a0 Serck had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs.\u00a0 Manning also had three hits, including a double and single, with an RBI.\u00a0 Sarah Ebert had a double.\u00a0 Emma Moller, Jaeley Christensen, Emma Solberg, and Doering all had singles.\u00a0 P. Moller added two RBIs.\u00a0 E.
