{"id":355,"date":"2022-08-24T22:45:43","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T03:45:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/?p=355"},"modified":"2022-08-24T22:45:44","modified_gmt":"2022-08-25T03:45:44","slug":"cubs-drop-road-match-in-season-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/2022\/08\/24\/cubs-drop-road-match-in-season-opener\/","title":{"rendered":"Cubs Drop Road Match in Season Opener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-245\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>The Alcester-Hudson Cubs traveled to Menno to play the Wolves to start the 2022 volleyball season on Tuesday, August 23rd.\u00a0 The Wolves took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-20.<\/p>\n<p>Menno built an early 6-1 lead in the first set.\u00a0 The Cubs were able to pull within a couple of points, but the Wolves got on another run and extended their lead to 19-10 before taking the set 25-11.<\/p>\n<p>After Menno had a 9-5 lead early in the second set, the Cubs pulled within two points, 9-7.\u00a0 The Wolves then scored five in a row to push the lead to 14-7.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson slowly pulled within three points, 21-18, but Menno held off the rally and took the win 25-20.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolves started the third set on a 6-1 run, but the Cubs answered with five straight to tie the score 6-6.\u00a0 Menno responded with six straight of their own for a 12-6 lead.\u00a0 The Cubs got within two points again, 13-11, but Menno once again stopped the rally and held off the Cubs for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Carly Patrick and Emma Moller each had seven kills.\u00a0 Alexis Gray and Elly Doering both finished with four kills each.\u00a0 Hannah Ahart finished with 13 set assists, two blocks and eight digs.\u00a0 Ella Serck added six set assists and four digs.\u00a0 Jenna Manning had a team-high 18 digs, and Doering finished with 12.<\/p>\n<p>Alcester-Hudson will have their first home match of the season against the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals on Thursday, August 25th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Alcester-Hudson Cubs traveled to Menno to play the Wolves to start the 2022 volleyball season on Tuesday, August 23rd.\u00a0 The Wolves took the match in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-20.
