{"id":1291,"date":"2024-09-15T21:40:47","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T02:40:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/?p=1291"},"modified":"2024-09-15T21:40:48","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T02:40:48","slug":"cubs-volleyball-drops-two-matches-during-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/2024\/09\/15\/cubs-volleyball-drops-two-matches-during-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Cubs Volleyball Drops Two Matches During Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-245\" src=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"96\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1.png 96w, https:\/\/bigsiouxmedia.com\/alcester-hudson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Alcester-HudsonCubs-1-80x80.png 80w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 96px) 100vw, 96px\" \/>After playing in the Irene-Wakonda tournament, the Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team had two road matches.\u00a0 They traveled to Sioux Falls Lutheran on Tuesday, September 10th and then traveled to Avon on Thursday, September 12th.\u00a0 The Cubs lost both matches in straight sets.<\/p>\n<p>Against the Eagles, Alcester-Hudson lost by set scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 25-20.\u00a0 Emily Winquist finished with five kills, 14 digs, and two blocks.\u00a0 Delta Pies had four kills, three digs, and three blocks.\u00a0 Emma Moller had 11 digs and 6.5 blocks.\u00a0 Jaeley Christensen finished with 15 digs, 11 set assists, two ace serves, and two blocks.\u00a0 Baylee Klaschen had 14 digs and two ace serves.\u00a0 Emma Solberg added three kills and four digs.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday against the Pirates, the Cubs started the first sets with a 3-3 tie with Avon.\u00a0 The Pirates went ahead by two points, 10-8.\u00a0 While still leading by two points, 15-13, the Pirates went ahead 17-13.\u00a0 The Cubs got within two points, 22-20, but Avon won the first set 25-20.\u00a0 Avon started the second set on a 4-0 run and never trailed.\u00a0 They increased the lead to 16-7 before winning 25-15.\u00a0 The Pirates again started quickly in the third set and led 6-1.\u00a0 They increased the lead to 19-8.\u00a0 Alcester-Hudson cut into the lead, but it was too late as Avon held for a 25-19 win.<\/p>\n<p>Moller had a team-high seven kills.\u00a0 Devin Hongslo had six kills and three blocks.\u00a0 Solberg and Heidi Swanson both had six blocks, one dig, and one set assist each.\u00a0 Jenna Manning had nine digs.\u00a0 Christensen finished with eight set assists, five digs, and 1.5 blocks.\u00a0 Winquist added seven digs, two kills, and two set assists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After playing in the Irene-Wakonda tournament, the Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team had two road matches.\u00a0 They traveled to Sioux Falls Lutheran on Tuesday, September 10th and then traveled to Avon on Thursday, September 12th.\u00a0 The Cubs lost both matches in straight sets.
