Cubs Softball Headed Back to State Tournament

The Alcester-Hudson Cub softball team is headed back to the state tournament.  The Cubs defeated Scotland-Menno in the SoDak 16 by a score of 17-7 on Tuesday, May 27th.

Scotland-Menno held a lead early in the game.  They scored two in the top of the first and continued to lead 2-0 going into the bottom of the second.  The Cubs took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the second to grab a 4-2 advantage.  Scotland-Menno would tie the game 4-4 with two in the top of the third, but the Cubs took control of the game from there.

Alcester-Hudson had a five-run bottom of the third inning to go ahead 9-4.  After a scoreless fourth inning, Scotland-Menno scored three times in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 9-7.  The Cubs responded with four in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 13-7.  Alcester-Hudson ended the game on the 10-run rule with four more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Emma Solberg had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs.  Lexi Miller also had three hits with three RBIs.  Ava Kingma had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs.  Laney Decker added two hits.  Emma Molller had a single and two RBIs.  Delta Pies ended with a single and an RBI.  Jaeley Christensen had a double, and Janna Manning had a single.  Moller pitched six innings and allowed seven earned runs on six hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts.

The 2025 South Dakota State B Softball Tournament will be held in Aberdeen Thursday, June 5th through Saturday, June 7th.
