The Alcster-Hudson Cub softball team played two games in Scotland on Friday, May 23rd. The Cubs fell to Elk Point-Jefferson, but got a win over Scotland-Menno.
Elk Point-Jefferson 13, Alcester-Hudson 12
The Huskies scored two times in the bottom of the fifth to earn a come-from-behind win over the Cubs. The Cubs scored five times in the top of the first, but the Huskies got 2 in the bottom of the inning. Alcester-Hudson got five more runs in the top of the second for a 10-2 lead. Elk Point-Jefferson, however, scored eight times in the bottom of the second to tie the game 10-10. The Huskies took the lead with a run in the bottom of the third. After a scoreless fourth, the Cubs scored two times in the top of the fifth to go back in front 12-11. The Huskies though would score two in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Emma Moller had three hits, two doubles and a home run, and five RBIs. Jaeley Christensen had two hits and an RBI. Laney Decker and Ava Kingma both had a single with two RBIs. Jenna Manning added a double with an RBI. Lexi Miller had a single and an RBI. Paxtyn Moller and Delta Pies both had one hit each. E. Moller pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed 13 runs, nine earned, on 13 hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Alcester-Hudson 14, Scotland-Menno 4
The Cubs scored the first nine runs on their way to a 14-4 win over Scotland-Menno. Alcester-Hudson scored two runs right away in the top of the first. They added another run in the third and then six more in the top of the fourth for a 9-0 lead. Scotland-Menno scored two times in the bottom of the inning to make the score 9-2. The Cubs would add five more runs in the top of the fifth. Scotland-Menno got their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Christensen had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Manning had two hits, one a home run, with an RBI. Lexi Miller also had two hits with an RBI. P. Moller added two singles. Pies had a home run with five RBIs in the game. Laney Decker had a double with two RBIs. E. Moller had a single and two RBIs. Emma Solberg had a double and an RBI. E. Moller pitched five innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits and three walks with 13 strikeouts.
