The Alcester-Hudson Cub softball team had a great day in Marion on Saturday, April 26th. The Cubs earned three wins with victories over Centerville, Arlington, and Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy. They allowed just three runs total the entire day.
Alcester-Hudson 16, Centerville 0
After a scoreless first inning, the Cub offense got rolling against the Tornadoes. They scored eight times in top of the second inning and added eight more in the top of the third for a 16-0 lead. Centerville was held without a hit over the three innings, and the game ended on the 15-run rule.
Lexi Miller had three hits and three RBIs. Laney Decker had two singles with three RBIs. Jenna Manning had a home run with three RBIs. Emma Moller added a double and two RBIs. CJ Koppman had a triple with an RBI. Paxtyn Moller ended with a single and two RBIs, and Delta Pies had a hit and an RBI. Jaeley Christensen added a double. E. Moller pitched three innings and allowed just one walk with seven strikeouts.
Alcester-Hudson 19, Arlington 3
The Cubs and Cardinals combined for seven runs in the opening inning of their game. Alcester-Hudson led 4-3 after the first inning. The Cubs offense continued to roll while the defense shut down Arlington. They scored eight times in the second inning, three in the third, one in the four, and finally three more in the fifth before the game ended.
Decker had four hits, including two doubles and a triple, with three RBIs. E. Moller had three hits, one a double, and three RBIs. P. Moller had two hits and two RBIs. Emma Solberg also had two hits with one RBI. Christensen added a single and three RBIs. Miller had a single and two RBIs. Skylar Hongslo had a triple and an RBI. Delta Pies had a double and an RBI. Manning added a hit and an RBI. Koppman and Lily VandenHull each had an RBI. E. Moller pitched five innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.
Alcester-Hudson 6, Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy 0
E. Moller held the Phoenix to one hit over five innings while walking two and striking out 11 as the Cubs earned the 6-0 shut out win. Alcester-Hudson put two runs on the board in the bottom of the first. The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the third. The Cubs scored two more times and then had two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Solberg ended with two hits, one a double, with an RBI. E. Moller had a double with an RBI. P. Moller added a single and an RBI. Christensen ended with a triple. Pies had two RBIs, and Decker had one RBI.
