Cubs Softball Wins Two More, Winning Streak at Five

The Alcester-Hudson Cub softball team won two games on back-to-back days to increase their winning streak to five games.  The Cubs defeated Bon Homme on Thursday, April 17th and then got a win over Beresford on Friday, April 18th.

Alcester-Hudson 13, Bon Homme 3

The Cubs scored 10 runs in the final two innings to take a 13-3 win over the Cavaliers.  Alcester-Hudson scored a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead.  Each team got a run in both the second and third innings.  The Cubs led 3-2 going into the fourth.  Alcester-Hudson added two runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 5-2.  Bon Homme cut the lead to 5-3 with a run in the top of the fifth, but the Cubs exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Emma Moller had three hits, one a home run, and four RBIs.  Jaeley Christensen had three hits, two of them doubles, and three RBIs.  Paxtyn Moller and Ava Kingma both had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Emma Solberg finished with two singles.  Delta Pies and Laney Decker each had a single and RBI, and Lexi Miller had an RBI.  Moller threw five innings and allowed three earned runs on three hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts.

Alcester-Hudson 8, Beresford 5

The Cubs got four runs late in the game to take the 8-5 win in the second game.  Each team scored twice in the firsts inning for a 2-2 tie.  Alcester-Hudson got a single run in the third and another in the fourth for a 4-2 lead.  Beresford tied the game, 4-4, with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.  The Cubs, however, responded with three in the top of the sixth.  The Watchdogs scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Alcester-Hudson scored another run in the top of the seventh.

Decker had two hits, one a triple, and three RBIs.  Christensen had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI.  Pies and Emma Moller both had two singles and an RBI each.  Manning added a triple and an RBI.  Miller finished with a single and an RBI.  P. Moller had a triple, and Solberg had a single.  E. Moller pitched seven innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on five hits and six walks with 12 strikeouts.
