The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team dropped a touch match on the road against the Beresford Watchdogs on Thursday, October 10th. The Watchdogs won by set scores of 16-25, 20-25, 25-10, 25-14, and 15-8.
Alcester-Hudson built a lead in the opening set and held a seven point advantage at 22-15. The Cubs would finish the set with a 3-1 run to win 25-16. Beresford opened the second set with a 3-0 run. They extended that lead to 10-4 and still led by six at 16-10. The Cubs chipped away at the the lead and tied the score 19-19. They then went on a 4-0 run for a 23-19 lead before going ahead two sets to none with a 25-20 win.
The Watchdogs regrouped and started the third set with a 9-2 run. They pushed the lead to 17-7 and then 21-10. Beresford would also score the final four points for a quick 25-10 win. The fourth set started with ties of 3-3 and 6-6. Beresford would take a 12-10 lead and then extend that lead to 16-11. The Watchdogs continued the run with four straight points for a 20-11 score. They would finish the set with a 25-14 win to force a fifth and final set.
The Cubs took the first lead, 3-0, in the final set with three straight points. They would hold a slim 5-4 advantage, but Beresford would tie the score 7-7. The Watchdogs went on a 3-1 run to go in front 10-8. Beresford then scored the next five points in a row for a 15-8 victory.
