The Alcester-Hudson Cubs volleyball team hosted the Parker Pheasants on Thursday, October 3rd. The Pheasants won the match in four sets by scores of 25-16, 25-15, 19-25, and 25-15.
The opening set started close early. The score was tied 6-6, and the Parker worked themselves to a 12-9 lead. The Cubs were within two points, 13-11, before the Pheasants pulled away. Parker went on a 7-3 run for a 20-14 lead and finished the set at 25-16. The Cubs started the second set with a 3-1 lead. Parker tied the score 4-4 and then went on a run. The Pheasants went on a 6-0 advantage for a 10-4 lead. The lead grew to 18-9 before Parker closed the set with a 25-15 final.
Alcester-Hudson overcame an early 5-4 deficit in the third set. The Cubs when on a 5-1 run to take a 9-6 lead. They extended the lead to 15-9. Parker made a run to get within two points, 17-15, but the Cubs ended the third set on an 8-4 advantage for a 25-19 win. The Cubs started the fourth set on a 4-2 lead. They led 7-4, but Parker then tied the score 7-7. The Pheasants kept the momentum and went on a 10-4 run for a 17-11 lead. They scored the next three points as well to push the lead to 20-11. Parker closed out the set and match with the 25-15 win.
