Alcester-Hudson Softball Heading Back to State

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs softball team is heading back to the state tournament.  The Cubs defeated the Arlington Cardinals 8-4 in the SoDak 16 on Wednesday, May 22nd.

After two scoreless innings, the Cardinals scored a run in the top of the third for a 1-0 lead.  Cubs put five runs on the board in the bottom of the third to go ahead 5-1.  Arlington cut the lead to 5-4 after three runs in the top of the fourth.  Alcester-Hudson got some insurance runs late in the game.  They scored two in the bottom of the fifth and one more in the bottom of the sixth.

The Cubs hit four home runs on the day.  Elly Doering and Emma Moller both had two hits each, one a home run, and an RBI each.  Alexis Gray had a home run and two RBIs.  Delta Pies also had a home run and an RBI.  Emma Solberg finished with three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Sarah Ebert also had three hits, including a double, and an RBI.  Jenna Manning had three singles, and Jaeley Christensen had a triple.  E. Moller pitched seven innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits and six walks with 18 strikeouts.
