The Alcester-Hudson Cubs track team had several individuals make the state meet last season, and head coach Mitchell Johnson said that they hope to do the same this season. A total of 26 high school athletes are competing for the Cubs this season. The boys team finished third at the conference meet a year ago, and the girls team had a fourth-place finish.
Carly Patrick is one of the seniors on this year’s team and is hoping to qualify for her fourth straight state tournament. The girls 4x200m relay team has been strong the last couple of seasons. They placed second in state in 2022 and third in 2023. Johnson mentioned they are hoping to qualify that relay team again this season.
Seniors Mateo Kleinhans, William Hallaway, and Dominic Van Egdom will help lead the boys team. Kleinhans will try to place again the triple jump as well as the hurdles this season. Juniors Evan Brown Ethan Bovill, along with sophomore Darin Dykstra also return with experience at the state meet.
The first meet of the season for the Cubs is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd at Elk Point.
