Cubs Take Straight Set Match over Eagles

The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team took a straight set road match over the Irene-Wakonda Eagles on Tuesday, October 10th.  The Cubs won by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-8.

After a 3-3 tie to start the first set, the Eagles went on a 5-1 run for an 8-4 lead.  The Cubs responded with a 6-1 run to take a 10-9 lead.  They extended that lead to 15-11, but the Eagles rallied to tie 19-19.  Another run by Alcester-Hudson put them back in front 24-19 before holding on to a 25-22 win.

Irene-Wakonda started the second set with a 3-0 lead, but the Cubs followed with a 9-1 run to go ahead 9-4.  Alcester-Hudson cruised from there extending their lead to 17-10 and then winning 25-18.  The momentum carried into the third set.  After the Eagles started with a 4-2 lead, the Cubs scored 11 in a row for a 13-4 lead on their way to a 25-8 victory.
