Cub Volleyball Winning Streak Snapped

The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team had their seven match winning streak to start the season snapped at home on Tuesday, September 5th.  The Cubs were defeated by the Sioux Falls Lutheran Eagles in straight sets by scores of 25-22, 25-8, and 25-22.

The two teams started the first set tied 4-4.  The Cubs then went on a 5-0 run for a 9-4 lead.  The Eagles responded with seven straight points to go ahead 11-9.  They slowly extended that lead to 22-15.  Alcester-Hudson rallied to close the gap, but fell 25-22.

The Eagles wasted no time in getting a big lead in the second set.  They outscored the Cubs 12-2 and continued to roll to a 25-8 win.  Sioux Falls Lutheran started quick again in the third set.  They built an early 9-2 lead, but the Cubs rallied to tie the score 12-12.  The teams went back and forth to a 17-17 tie.  The Eagles scored the next three points for a 20-17 lead, which was enough to keep them in front.  The Cubs got within a point at 22-21 and 23-22, but the Eagles finished the set with a 25-22 win.

Hannah Ahart finished with 19 digs, nine set assists, and one kill.  Emma Moller had five kills and a dig.  Elly Doering finished with four kills and 11 digs.  Jenna Manning added 16 digs.  Alexis Gray had 13 digs and one set assist.  Baylee Klaschen had six digs and a set assist.
