Fourth Quarter Rally Helps Lead to Overtime Win for Alcester-Hudson Boys

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs (4-11) overcame a fourth quarter deficit to force overtime in Centerville on Tuesday, January 31st.  The Cubs got the victory 56-54 to snap a three-game losing streak.

Alcester-Hudson trailed the Tornadoes 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.  The Cubs started the second quarter on an 8-0 run to lead 17-15.  Centerville responded with a 7-0 run to retake the lead 22-17.  The Tornadoes led 31-25 at halftime.  The Cubs cut into the lead a little in the third quarter, but trailed 42-38 going into the fourth quarter.

The Cubs took the lead, 50-48, with just :15 remaining in the game.  The Tornadoes, however, drove the length of the court and tied the game 50-50 with just :09 to play.  Regulation ended with the score tied 50-50.  Centerville was leading 54-53 with under a minute to play.  Evan Brown hit a three-point shot to give the Cubs a 56-54 lead.  He then got a steal of the inbound pass to secure the win.

Dominic Van Egdom had 17 points and eight rebounds.  Ethan Bovill also had 17 points with four rebounds, and two assists.  Brown had six points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Tommy Walth also had six points and five steals.
