The Alcester-Hudson Cubs lost a road match at the Garretson Blue Dragons on Tuesday, September 27th. The Blue Dragons won in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-17.
The first set started back-and-forth with Garretson holding just a one point lead at 9-8. The Blue Dragons went on a 4-0 run to push their lead to 13-8. The Cubs were able to get within a couple of points, but Garretson was able to hold off a rally for a 25-20.
The Cubs went on a big run early in the second set and built a 10-1 lead. Garretson slowly chipped away at the lead and got within a point, 14-13. Alcester-Hudson was able to push the lead back to three at 18-14. The Cubs still led 20-17, but the Blue Dragons ended the set on an 8-1 run to steal the win 25-21.
Garretson carried that momentum into the third set, building a 6-0 lead right away. The lead grew to 13-3. The Cubs were never able to get any closer than four or five points the remainder of the match as Garretson won the third set 25-17.
Elly Doering finished with eight kills, four digs, and two blocks. Emma Moller had six kills and five digs. Carly Patrick added four kills and a dig. Ella Serck had 21 set assists, seven digs, two kills, and a block. Hannah Ahart had a team-high 16 digs and five ace serves. Jenna Manning added eight digs. Devin Hongslo finished with six digs and three kills.
