Marjorie A. Lampe, 91, of Dell Rapids and formerly of Salem passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Dells Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will begin at 12 pm on Thursday with a 3 pm rosary and 7 pm prayer service with family present at 6 pm all at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.
Marjorie Kyte was born November 7, 1927 in Wakonda, SD to Ray and Nora (Holton) Kyte. She grew up in SE South Dakota in the communities of Burbank, Tripp and Parkston. She graduated from Parkston High School in 1945 and then attended Notre Dame Jr. College in Mitchell. After graduating she worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Mitchell.
Marjorie married Alvin Lampe on May 25, 1948 and they farmed near Salem where they started their family. They were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem. She worked as a waitress and CNA and later developed an interest in reflexology. She studied and earned her certificate in reflexology and practiced it many years. They moved into town in 1991 and she joined the Red Hats and worked at the senior lunch program.
Marjorie is survived by: her children, David (LeAnn) Lampe of Madison, Richard Lampe of Carter Lake, IA, John (Katherine) Lampe of Omaha, NE, Kathy Bongers of Dell Rapids, Bernard (Sue) Lampe of Dell Rapids, and Mark (Joann) Lampe of Midwest City, OK; 9 grandchildren, Christina Jackson, Jason Bongers, Debby Bongers, Joshua Lampe, Lindsay Lampe, Laura Rivard, Andrew Lampe, Jared Lampe and Paige Lampe; great-great-grandchildren, Kenneth Bongers, Benjamin Rivard and Baby Rivard expected soon. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her siblings, Roger (Carol) Kyte, Helen (Carl) Lampe, and LaValle (George) Roth, a daughter Diana Lampe and great-granddaughter, Maxine Bongers.
