After trailing at the end of the first and second quarters, the Dell Rapids Quarrier girls held the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans to just 16 second half points in a 55-38 come-from-behind win at Mt Vernon on Tuesday, February 6th.
The Titans led for most of the first quarter and lead 12-10 at the quarter break. Both teams scored 10 points as Mt Vernon/Plankinton continued to lead by two points at halftime by a score of 22-20. Dell Rapids got both the offense and defense working together in the third quarter. The Quarriers outscores the Titans 20-7 to take a 40-29 lead after three quarters of play. Dell Rapids continued the surge in the fourth quarter by holding the Titans to nine fourth quarter points.
Four Quarriers finished with double figures in the game. Jayda Knuppe led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds. Emma Paul had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sydney Stofferahn and Arial Hoffman both finished with 10 points and four rebounds each.
Dell Rapids (11-5) will hit the road again on Friday, February 9th when they travel to Dakota Valley High School for a girls and boys double-header against the Panthers.
