The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team extended their winning streak to five games after two wins on back-to-back days.  The Quarriers hosted the Dakota Valley Panthers on Friday, February 8th, and then traveled to Volga to play the Sioux Valley Cossacks in a make-up game on Saturday, February 9th.

Dell Rapids earned a 69-52 victory over Dakota Valley on Friday after strong second and third quarters.  Both offenses were on fire in the first quarter combining for 40 total points.  Dell Rapids held a 22-18 lead after the first quarter of play.  The Quarrier defense then put together two very strong quarters as the offense continued to shine.  Dell Rapids outscored the Panthers 19-11 in the second quarter for a 41-29 halftime lead.  The Quarriers then held Dakota Valley to just six third-quarter points to build a 19-point lead by the end of the quarter at 54-35.  That was more than enough for Dell Rapids as they cruised to the victory.

Four players finished in double figures on the night.  Jayda Knuppe had 21 points to lead the Quarriers.  Aspen Hansen had 18 points, and Ravyn Hoffman and Emma Paul both had 13 points each.  Dakota Valley was led by Rylee Rosenquist with 15 points.

The Quarriers then hit the road to Volga for a game against the Sioux Valley Cossacks on Saturday.  Dell Rapids had no trouble with Sioux Valley as they came home with 66-27 victory.

Knuppe led the team in scoring again with 17 points and four rebounds.  Paul added 13 points and four rebounds.  Hansen tallied nine points and 10 steals in the game, and Hoffman added eight points.

Dell Rapids (10-6) will host the Madison Bulldogs on Thursday, February 14th.  The game can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
