Dell Rapids PBR had their season come to an end on Thursday, July 31st, at the District 4B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Colman, SD. Harrisburg handed PBR their second loss of the tournament by a score of 3-2.
Harrisburg scored right away in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. PBR was able to tie the game in the bottom of the second inning. Harrisburg regained the lead in the top of the third inning by scoring two runs for a 3-1 lead. PBR cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI-single by Klock, but could not get another rally together for the come back.
Drew Eldeen took the loss for PBR, throwing 6 2/3 innings giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking four. Nate Alfson pitched the final 2 1/3 innings striking out five. Dalton Allen picked up the win for Harrisburg, pitching seven innings giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking one.
Harrisburg advances to play Humboldt/Hartford on Friday, August 1st. This is the second time in 28 years that PBR has failed to make the state tournament. PBR was disqualified from state tournament play in 2012.
