The Tri-Valley Mustang girls and boys basketball teams hosted the Madison Bulldogs in a double-header on Tuesday, December 15th.
The girls won their second game of the year in convincing fashion by a 65-36 score over the Bulldogs. Madison did hold the lead early in the game. The Bulldogs led after the first quarter of play at 15-13, but the Mustangs responded in the second quarter. Tri-Valley outscored Madison 24-6 for a 37-21 halftime lead.
The Mustang defense was extremely stingy in the third quarter. Tri-Valley only allowed three points to Madison in the third quarter and built a 50-24 lead heading into the fourth. The Mustangs also outscored Madison in the final quarter 15-12.
Three players finished in double figures. Tabor Teel led the team with 22 points. Blayne Gacke had 12 points, and Paige Jewett added 11 points.
The Tri-Valley boys team won their first game of the season. The Mustangs led from start to finish in the game. Tri-Valley jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter. Madison cut into the lead in the second quarter, but it was only by two points. Tri-Valley led 29-22 at the break.
The Mustangs were able to start pulling away in the third quarter. They outscored the Bulldogs 16-8 for a 45-30 lead after three quarters. Both teams scored 11 points in the final quarter, and Tri-Valley took the win by a final score of 56-41.
Nick Hass had a game-high 19 points for Tri-Valley. Riley Haynes finished with eight points.
Both the Mustang girls team (2-1) and boys team (1-2) will travel to Chester for a double-header against the Chester Flyers on Friday, December 18th.
