  • Library will be closed today.
  • Poppy Poster are due tomorrow at 3:00 in the high school office.
  • Any current 6-11th graders that are interested in playing soccer next year, please plan on attending a soccer meeting with your parents on Tuesday, April 24th @ 6:30 in the high school commons. If you are unable to attend this meeting but are still interested in playing soccer, please see Eve and get your name on a list. Thanks.
  • Congratulations to all of the FFA members who participated in the State FFA Convention on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Kenyon Shellum placed 11th out of 151 individuals in the Ag Mechanics event. The other team members were Kyle Steineke, Casey Machmiller and Riley Anderson with their combined scores putting the team 6th in the state. Emily Dorn placed 19th out of 190 individuals in the Vet Science event.
  • Seniors: This is the last week to turn in your baby pictures for the Senior Graduation video. These pictures must be turned in by April 30th.
  • Attention Juniors – Summer dual credit applications are available in Mrs. Ruesink’s office. 
  • There will be class meetings next week for anyone playing football next year in Mr. Huska’s room:
    • Sophomores: Tuesday 4/24 at 8:00 am
    • Freshman: Wednesday 4/25 at 8:00 am
  • Attention anyone that is interested in the Dell Rapids Booster Club Individual Athletic Camp Scholarship Program, please stop by the office and pick up an application. The Booster Club scholarship is available to athletes entering the 9th-12th grade and participating in a sport in the upcoming school year. Forms can be picked up and turned in to Eve prior to the end of the school year.
  • Attention Fine Arts Students! The Dell Rapids Fine Arts Boosters have a $50 scholarship available for private lessons or summer camps. The Fine Arts Boosters scholarship is available to students currently in band, choir, drama, quiz bowl or journalism, who are entering grades 7-12 and planning to participate in the fall.   •  If you are interested in the Dell Rapids High School Girls All-Sport Acceleration Program or the Dell Rapids Quarrier Football Sport Enhancement Program, please stop by the high school office and pick up a pamphlet.
  • It is time to register for the Post Prom Party!  An information letter and the registration form can be found on the school website.  Turn in your registration form and $25 fee to the high school office.
  • Lost:  a pair of size 11, black/white tennis shoes last seen yesterday in the 7th grade boys locker room.  If found, please see Ms. Barber (reward will be given).
  • April is National Poetry Month:  The DRMS/HS Library launched a Blackout Poetry Challenge for the month.  To enter, pick up a book page from the school library.  Create your blackout poem.  Turn your creation into the librarian with your name and grade on back.  All participants will be entered into a drawing and several winners will be chosen at the end of the month!
  • April 25th 1:30-3:00 cheer tryout practices will be held.
  • April 27th starting at 4:00 there will be sideline and competitive cheer tryouts.
  • Drivers Education class will take place during the months of June and July. The classroom portion is scheduled for May 29-June 1 from 8:00am – 4:00 pm. The students will be responsible for lunch during 12:00-12:30 each day. The Dell Rapids FFA will be providing lunch for interested students for $6 each day. The fee for the Driver Education program is $160. Student who have completed 7th grade and will be 14 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2018, will be allowed to sign up for Drivers Education.   • Attention students: If you have a negative balance in your lunch account you are not permitted to take a la cart items unless you are paying cash for them at checkout.
  • Parents: This year the Dell Rapids High School Prom will be April 28th. The Post Prom Committee is dedicated to creating a safe, fun and drug-and alcohol-free event after prom and would appreciate any monetary contribution to sponsor this worthwhile activity. Contributions may be sent to Tracie Price. All donations are greatly appreciated and go directly to the youth that attend the post prom event. All information regarding the Post Prom schedule, as well as the registration forms are on the school website http://dr-k12.org after March 1st.
  • Are you interested in learning more about other countries and cultures?  The 2018 Lions Youth Exchange Camp will be held in Sioux Falls July 15-21 at Augustana University.  25 youth exchange students from around the world will attend the camp, and 20 youth from North and South Dakota will be selected to attend.   Cost of the camp is $400, which includes all food, lodging, and activities.  This is a unique opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with students from around the world.  Host families are also needed.  International students will arrive July 8, 2018 and depart July 28th.  Host families provide a place for the student to live before and after the youth camp, as well as help the student learn more about American culture.  For more information, visit www.sdlions.org/youthcamp or call Jennifer at 338-0551.
  • ATTENTION 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS:  Quarry Days Top of the Rock tournament will be held June 23rd.  Stop in the office for more info/registration info. 
  • Summer Jobs:

    • Jellystone Park is excepting applications for the 2018 season. Interested? Apply in person at I90, exit 402 or email at reservations@jellystonesiouxfalls.com and they will send you an application.
    • Heinemann Restoration is hiring for general labor positions. Must be 18 years of age.
    • Summer pollinating positions in DuPont Pioneer in Volga. Application due no later June 20th. Please go on their website asinc.research@asinc.net
    • Dell Rapids Baseball Association is looking for umpires for the summer baseball season for the 12U and 10U age groups. Games are mostly on Monday and Wednesday evenings. There may be some games on other nights depending on field availability or weather postponements. The season will begin on May 14th and end on July 8th. Umpires must be at least 13-years-old as of January 1st, 2018. Payment is $20.00/game for home plate, $15.00/game for bases. You’ll receive payment the night of umpiring the game.     • Anyone that would be interested in umpiring softball this summer can sign up at dellrapidssoftball.com (Dell Rapids Softball Dot Com).  You can earn from $15.00 to $35.00 per game.  You must be 13 by June first.  Again, sign up at (Dell Rapids Softball Dot Com).

      The school is looking for summer student custodial help. Please stop by either office if you are interested. Close date will be April 20th.

    • The city of Dell Rapids is hiring summer employees for mowing and other park responsibilities. They are looking for employees that are 18 years of age and older. To apply please contact city hall.
