  • Chess club – Chess Club meets every Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7:45 to 8:15 in the high school computer room.
  • Any junior or senior students interested in being a legislative page should see Mrs. Ruesink for more information. Registration deadline is Friday, November 14th.
  • Any junior/senior students interested in taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) on November 4th should stop in and see Mrs. Ruesink to get registered.
  • Do you have any shoes that you no longer wear that are gently used?  If so, consider donating them to the project, “Shoes for the Shoeless.”  They will be distributed to those in need in the Sioux Falls area.  Bring them to your homeroom teacher or the FACS room by TODAY.  For more information please check the posters that are around the school.

  • REMINDER TO SENIORS—Deadline to submit your yearbook/ composite & baby pictures to drhsnews@gmail.com is Nov 21st.   Also, stop in the office to fill out diploma information.
  • The South Dakota Air National Guard is hosting a Career Day on October 29th from 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM for students and parents.  This will include a base tour, jet take-off, lunch, and informational sessions to learn more about career opportunities and generous benefits the Air National Guard has to offer. See Mrs. Ruesink for more information.
  • An admissions representative from the following institutions will be here next week:
    Mitchell Technical Institute on Monday, November 3rd at 1:45
    Northern State University on Tuesday, November 4th at 10:30
  • The time has come to register for spring dual credit courses! Technical Institutes courses open on November 1st.  BOR (4-year college) courses open November 17th.  If you would like more information on Dual Credit courses and this opportunity to earn college / technical school credit at a greatly reduced price, please see Mrs. Kludt ASAP.
  • Any agriculture student or FFA member selling fruit, meat, cheese, nuts and pastry puffins will need to turn in all their sales by Friday, Nov. 7.
  • Each year, Red Ribbon Week (Oct 27-Oct 31) is held to commemorate the death of Kiki Camarena, a United States DEA Agent who was tortured and killed in Mexico while working in the fight against drugs. Now students, teachers, and families across America participate in this annual awareness campaign.  We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with students at the elementary school, the middle school, and St. Mary’s.
    Next week’s activities will include dress-up days.
    ·         TODAY – “Color My World Drug Free” – Wear red!
  • In addition to Red Ribbon Week activities, students can take part in a contest to try to win an iPad for themselves and $1000 for their school.  Students and families decorate their home’s front door, mailbox or fence with a double-looped red ribbon and the theme, “Love Yourself. Be Drug Free.”  Take a picture with the decoration and upload it to the following site: RedRibbon.org/contest from Oct. 1-Nov. 4!  You must be 18 years or older to upload the photo.  Ask friends and family to vote for your photo beginning Nov. 5.  Eleven winners will be announced December 5th!
  • Good Luck to the All State Chorus members as they rehearse today and perform tomorrow at the Sioux Falls Arena starting at 7pm.
  • **Junior football parents will be serving a meal to all football players, coaches, statisticians, and cheerleaders on Sunday, November 2nd at approximately 5:15/6:5:30pm (after practice) in the middle school commons.  Go Quarriers!!
