Four errors by the Dell Rapids PBR defense and 15 hits by Lennox Only One proved to be too much for PBR to overcome in the opening round of the District 4B Amateur baseball tournament in Flandreau on Friday, July 24th. Lennox defeated PBR 12-7. PBR is just one loss away from not qualifying for the State B Amateur Baseball Tournament for the second year in a row.
Lennox got on the board early with an unearned run in the top half of the first inning. Dell Rapids PBR answered back with two in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. PBR added another run in the second inning to extend the lead to 3-1. Lennox, however, tied the game up in the third inning with two runs. It was the first of three innings in a row that Lennox would score two runs. They added two runs in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth to take a 7-3 lead.
PBR pulled within three by scoring in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 7-4. Lennox again would add a run in the seventh and another run in the eighth to extend their lead to 9-4. PBR would not go away quietly as they scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs. PBR, however, left the based loaded, and the momentum shifted back to Lennox. Lennox added three more runs in the top of the ninth for the win.
