Big Sioux Media and LaDelle and Fourth Coffeehouse are proud to partner together for the 2017-2018 “Cardinal of the Month” campaign! Every month students from Dell Rapids St Mary will be chosen to be recognized as “Cardinals of the Month”. We want to not only recognize the hard work that students put in the classroom with their studies, but also the great things they are doing inside the school and out in the community, such as being positive role models to younger students, lending a helping hand without asking, or community service. Administration and staff will be nominating and selecting students each month. Big Sioux Media will be recognizing those students on our website, presenting them with a certificate, and LaDelle and Fourth Coffeehouse will be rewarding those students with a 1/2 dozen cupcakes!
If you spot a student exhibiting the qualities listed in the community, and would like to nominate them for Cardinal of the Month, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll send your comments to the appropriate school for the administration to consider them as a nominee!
September Cardinals of the Month
Dell Rapids St Mary Elementary School – Aubrey Geraets (K): Aubrey is the daughter of John and Tammy Geraets and is in Kindergarten at St. Mary School. Her siblings at St. Mary include: Luke (8th), Megan (5th), Paige (3rd) and future Cardinal Brady.
Aubrey is a wonderful friend to her classmates. Whenever she notices someone needing help, she is right there to help them out. She also takes great pride in the classroom. Without any prompting, Aubrey can be found straightening up the classroom and picking up trash off the floor. She is respectful to teachers as well as her friends. She is a wonderful Kindergartener at St. Mary’s and definitely has Cardinal Spirit! Congratulations Aubrey – we are proud to have you at St. Mary’s school!
Dell Rapids St Mary High School – Maya Heinitz (7th): Maya is the youngest daughter and second child of Adam and Sandra Heinitz. Maya has one older sister—Ella—a freshman at St. Mary. She also has two younger brothers, Jake and Drew. Jake is currently a third grader at St. Mary.
Maya was nominated first and foremost for her success in the classroom. “Maya is a very studious young lady and is always earning high marks. Maya’s attitude is second to none, and she never gives anything less than her maximum effort. I see Maya constantly aiding other students to help them with their learning as well.” Maya was also noted as being a very humble person who gets along very well with all of her classmates. Her attitude and efforts in the classroom and all that she does make Maya an excellent choice as the first Cardinal of the Month for the 2017-2018 school year. Congratulations Maya!
