Big Sioux Media and Luv My Sweets are proud to continue the “Cardinal of the Month” campaign for the 2020-2021 school year! Every month students from Dell Rapids St Mary will be chosen to be recognized as “Cardinals of the Month”. We want to not only recognize the hard work that students put in the classroom with their studies, but also the great things they are doing inside the school and out in the community, such as being positive role models to younger students, lending a helping hand without asking, or community service. Administration and staff will be nominating and selecting students each month. Big Sioux Media will be recognizing those students on our website, presenting them with a certificate, and a 1/2 dozen cupcakes from Luv My Sweets!
If you spot a student exhibiting the qualities listed in the community, and would like to nominate them for Cardinal of the Month, email us at admin@bigsiouxmedia.com. We’ll send your comments to the appropriate school for the administration to consider them as a nominee!
November Cardinals of the Month
Dell Rapids St Mary Elementary School – Madisyn Klein: According to her nomination, Madisyn has a smile that lights up the room. She is concerned for others’ feelings, and will stand up for that person whether it is a good friend, or just a friend in need. Madisyn is a prayerful person, who loves God and others and it shows in her words and actions. She always has a wonderful story to share–no matter what subject is being discussed! This 4th grader is a St. Mary Cardinal, and let’s school spirit shine through! Her good heart, strong faith, and kindness make her a great candidate for Cardinal of the Month. We are proud to call Madisyn a Cardinal – congratulations Madisyn!
Dell Rapids St Mary High School – Jon Bares: Jon was nominated because of his considerate personality. One teacher explained, “Jon is a kind and caring young man. He is always willing to help out no matter the task.” Whether it’s on the field or in the classroom, Jon leads by example with his work ethic and determination. As a teacher noted, “Jon always has his work done and is always willing to participate in class. He’s a pleasure to have in the classroom as he lifts everyone up in there.” Jon is always the first to volunteer to help with something. When a staff member asks for help with something, Jon is the first to raise his hand to help get it done. That willingness to help others is a big reason why Jon is in line to earn the Outstanding Volunteer Award at graduation this year. Jon’s thoughtfulness and care for others, his willingness to help others, and his leadership by example make Jon an excellent selection as the 7-12 Cardinal of the Month for the month of November. Congratulations Jon!
