With a 46-38 win over the Beresford Watchdogs, the Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team earned their sixth win of the year on Friday, January 16th, in Beresford. The Quarriers held a 10-8 lead after the first quarter, and maintained their two-point lead at halftime at 20-18. Dell Rapids was able to push their lead to seven at the end of the third quarter to 36-29, and then continued to lead through the fourth quarter for the win.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids shot 33% (14-42) from the field and 56% (15-27) from the free-throw line. The Quarriers also had 36 rebounds and turned the ball over 12 times.<\/p>\n
Mikaela Stofferahn had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brittney Siemonsma ended the night with five points and 11 rebounds. Sami Reider dished out three assists in the game.<\/p>\n
“We did not play great, but we played pretty solid in all phases of the game. We are going to need bring a little more energy and fight to the table or we could easily find ourselves on the wrong end of these types of games,” said head coach Jeff Dvorak.<\/p>\n
The Quarriers improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in Dak-12 Conference play.<\/p>\n
