The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys basketball team won their season opener against the West Central Trojans on Friday, December 12th, in Dell Rapids.\u00a0 The Quarriers took an early lead to start the game and led 17-11 after the first quarter.\u00a0 West Central was able to cut into the lead by one point by halftime, but Dell Rapids still lead 31-26 at halftime.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids was able to maintain a four-to-seven point lead through most of the third quarter.\u00a0 By the end of the third quarter, the Quarriers had extended their lead to nine points to 46-37.\u00a0 The Quarriers were able to pull away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 14-9 to coast to a 14-point win at 60-46.<\/p>\n
Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 34% (22-65) from the field.\u00a0 The shot 22% (4-18) from three-point area and just 52% (12-23) from the free-throw line.\u00a0 The Quarriers finished with 38 team rebounds, 12 assists, eight turnovers and eight steals.<\/p>\n
Ty Hoglund finished the game with a game-high 25 points and also had six rebounds.\u00a0 Riley Schmidt added 11 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.\u00a0 Adam Karst finished the game with nine points.\u00a0 Ben Hammer had eight points and pulled down 13 rebounds.<\/p>\n
