\"DRHSvsSisseton_FB_10-28-14_1\"<\/a>The Dell Rapids Quarriers advanced to the quarterfinals of the 11A playoffs with a 41-12 opening round win over the Sisseton Redmen on Tuesday, October 28th, in Dell Rapids.<\/p>\n

The Quarriers scores on their first five possessions of the game.\u00a0 After forcing Sisseton to punt after three plays, Dell Rapids scored on their first offensive play of the game.\u00a0 Keegan Hemenway scored on a 32-yard touchdown run and then kicked the extra point to give Dell Rapids a 7-0 lead with 10:03 left in the first quarter.\u00a0 The Quarriers scores just a mere three minutes later on a two-yard touchdown run by Riley Schmidt with 7:24 in the quarter to go ahead 14-0.\u00a0 The Quarriers added one more touchdown before the quarter was over.\u00a0 With :10 left Jase Nelson connected with Schmidt on a 63-yard touchdown pass increasing the Dell Rapids lead to 21-0.<\/p>\n

Dell Rapids continued to score at will in the second quarter.\u00a0 Schmidt scored his third touchdown on another two-yard run with 10:29 to go in the half.\u00a0 The Quarriers got the ball back on a turnover, and\u00a0scored again with 9:29 \"DRHSvsSisseton_FB_10-28-14_2\"<\/a>left in the quarter.\u00a0 This time Nelson connected with Riley Jurgensen on a 1o-yard touchdown pass to put Dell Rapids ahead 35-0.\u00a0 Sisseton was able to get on the board with 4:46 left in the half on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Hunter Medenwald to Ethan Kranhold to cut the lead to 35-6 heading into halftime.<\/p>\n

Neither team was able to get much offense going in the third quarter.\u00a0 The score remained 35-6 at the end of the third.\u00a0 Schmidt found the endzone for the fourth time in the game with 11:53 to go in the game on a 20-yard run to put the Quarriers ahead 41-6.\u00a0 Sisseton added their second score on a fumble recovery in the endzone for a touchdown by Nick Peterson with 4:25 left to play in the game.<\/p>\n

Schmidt finished the game with eight carries for 109 yards and three rushing touchdowns.\u00a0 Hemenway had three carries for 78 yards and a touchdown.\u00a0 Tanner Ljunggren had three carries for 41 yards.\u00a0 Nelson went 5-7 passing for 149 yards and two touchdowns.\u00a0 Schmidt had three receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown.\u00a0 Jurgensen had one catch for 10 yards and a touchdown.\u00a0 Beau Carpenter had a catch for nine yards.<\/p>\n

Seth Anderson led the defense with six tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.\u00a0 Jurgensen finished the game with four tackles.\u00a0 Nate McKee added three tackles.\u00a0 Jacob Faux, Anthony Miller, Ross Wiebenga, and Carpenter each had an interception.\u00a0 Tanner Heim had a fumble recovery.\u00a0 The Dell Rapids defense force six turnovers and held Sisseton to 257 yards of total offense.<\/p>\n
